Rockstar to Premiere GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix This Month
Rockstar Games will give fans a closer look at Grand Theft Auto VI later this month. The studio calls the presentation an “Extended Look.” It will premiere first on Netflix. The same content will then appear on YouTube and the official Rockstar website.
The showcase arrives on August 27 at 12 pm PT, or 3 pm ET, on Netflix. Viewers can watch it roughly six hours later on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 site. Neither Rockstar nor Netflix has shared the exact runtime or full content list.
The title “Extended Look” has fueled speculation among fans. Many believe the presentation may include gameplay footage. Rockstar has so far released only cinematic trailers for the game.
Netflix Secures First Access
Netflix describes the event as an extended look at the next evolution in the Grand Theft Auto series. Brandon Riegg, Netflix Vice President of Nonfiction Series, commented on the partnership. He noted that Grand Theft Auto announcements have become major cultural moments.
Riegg added that the anticipation around GTA 6 remains unprecedented. He said Netflix feels honored to debut the next chapter of the story for its members first. The collaboration also supports Netflix’s goal of bringing ambitious storytelling from any medium to a wide audience.
Current Details on GTA 6
The August 27 presentation marks Rockstar’s first major GTA 6 showcase since the second trailer in May 2025. The debut trailer arrived in December 2023. The studio has not yet shown public gameplay footage.
GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19, 2026. Pre-orders opened in June. Rockstar confirmed that the physical edition will ship as a code in a box rather than a traditional disc.
The standard edition costs $80. The Ultimate Edition is priced at $100 and includes extra in-game rewards. Players who buy the standard version can upgrade later if they choose.
According to Rockstar’s synopsis, the game follows Jason and Lucia in Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida. An easy score goes wrong. The pair then become caught in a wide-reaching conspiracy and must depend on each other to survive.
Significance of the Netflix Deal
Rockstar usually debuts major announcements on its own platforms. The decision to premiere this Extended Look on Netflix stands out as unusual.
Netflix ended 2025 with more than 325 million paid subscribers. Take-Two Interactive reported in May 2026 that the Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold over 470 million copies worldwide. GTA V alone accounts for nearly 230 million of those sales.
Industry analysts expect GTA 6 to rank among the largest entertainment launches ever. Some projections suggest the game could sell 35 to 40 million copies in its first year.
